Major Achievements
- We implemented a new afterschool program, After School Enrichment and Safety (ASES), which provided afterschool care, homework assistance, and enrichment activities such as karate, art, science, and sixth grade yearbook for 82 students.
- Students received music lessons where they learned how to read music and play recorders.
- Last year one classroom teacher and instructional aide received a grant from the Inglewood Education Foundation.
Focus for Improvement
- Continue to use rigorous standards-based instruction in the classrooms with ongoing formative and end of- unit assessments throughout the year, measuring students’ ongoing growth.
- Continue to implement intervention in the classroom and provide afterschool tutoring services for students.
- Continue to analyze and use student data to drive our instruction.
- Place a strong emphasis on our math and English language arts programs and the instructional practices. Provide the in-services for teachers and perform deeper analysis of students’ performance.
- Full implementation of “professional learning communities” among teachers to improve student achievement.
- Embed student performance data in everyday instructional practices to improve student academic performance.
- Increase parent involvement and teacher-parent contact to improve student academic performance.
- We are looking at creative ways for current school personnel to provide extra assistance for small groups
of students in reading and math one day per week.
