Major Achievements
We are excited about the development of our math program using Formative Math Assessments. These assist our teachers in the development of Power Standards and provide scaffolding, a method of supporting students as they learn new skills and concepts, for the California High School Exit Exam, which is given in high school.
Focus for Improvement
- Our goal is to increase student achievement to facilitate personal fulfillment and social expectations. Teachers continue to receive training in literacy and mathematics. Students participate in a balanced literacy program of phonemic awareness, phonics, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, reading, and writing. All teachers, kindergarten through fifth grade, incorporate a variety of instructional strategies using cooperative learning in their daily lessons to address the instructional needs and learning styles of all students. Students visit Hudnall’s computer lab on a weekly basis.
- Individual student needs are met in a timely manner through lessons in grades kindergarten through six. Our parents and community volunteers enhance all aspects of our school community by participating in programs such as tutoring students with special needs and small-group instruction.
- Student support services are available to Hudnall Elementary School students as needed. These services ensure that students receive support to gain maximum benefit from the instructional program. To enhance our positive learning environment we offer weekly Student Success Team (SST) meetings and recognition of the “Student of the Month.”
